Bring The MOBI Yacht ‘Nirimba’ Home…
Through discussions I have had with a number of our interested stakeholders, I now believe that we have the framework to fund the purchase, deliver, manage and operate the MOBI Yacht ‘Nirimba’. This does not require the Navy (nor RAN Heritage Centre) to purchase, manage, nor maintain the yacht as first considered. It will essentially belong to the ex-Naval Artificer Apprentices of RANATE - HMAS Nirimba.
Where we’re at currently is, that the preferred funding scenario is that we, that is a consortium, association, or trust if you like, of ex-Naval Artificer Apprentices and friends solicit contributions in the form of Bronze, Silver, Gold, Sapphire and Diamond ‘Strake-Holders’ donations/ shares, to raise the funds required to purchase the yacht, in perpetuity, with no single owner…
‘Strake-Holders’ will be given a frame-able certificate, acknowledging their contribution and detailing their entitlements and benefits at each level.
The sourcing of these initial ‘Strake-Holders’ will be by direct (and immediate) appeal to approx. 3,000-plus now-contactable ex-Nirimba Apprentices from:
There may well be some overlap in these related but not as yet correlated databases, but I don’t anticipate any ‘spam’ complaints given the subject of our appeal.
How the ‘Strake-Holder’ Member Funded Purchase Plan works:
Bronze ‘Strake-Holders’ will be those contributing from $100.00 to $299.00
Hypothetical minimum target of Bronze 'Stake-Holders': 300 = $30,000
Silver ‘Strake-Holders’ will be those contributing from $300.00 to $499.00
Hypothetical minimum target of Silver ‘Strake-Holders’: 200 = $60,000
Gold ‘Strake-Holders’ will be those contributing from $500.00 to $999.00
Hypothetical minimum target of Gold ‘Strake-Holders’: 100 = 50,000
Sapphire 'Strake-Holders' will be those contributing from $1,000.00 to $4,999.00
Hypothetical minimum target of Sapphire 'Strake-Holders': 15 = $15,000
Diamond ‘Strake-Holders’ will be those contributing $5,000.00 and above.
Hypothetical minimum target of Sapphire 'Strake-Holders': 5 = $25,000
Total funds raised from the hypothetical minimum contributions above = $180,000
Obviously, the more Sapphire and Diamond ‘Strake-Holders’ we attract will greatly reduce our dependency on reaching the higher target numbers required if we were only pursuing Bronze, Silver and Gold ‘Stake-Holders’…
It is envisaged that the Sapphire and Diamond ‘Strake-Holders’ would form the core of the Volunteer Management Group who would advise, schedule, vote and make decisions on the future use, moorings, maintenance, chartering, training and other similar matters.

We will also invite Corporate Organisations for outright Gifts such as The RAN, The RAN Heritage Centre, ADI, RAN SA, The National Maritime Museum, The Naval Association of Australia, HMAS Nirimba Associations of QLD and NSW, and so on, for donations in cash or kind, gratefully acknowledged, however Management of the MOBI Yacht Nirimba will remain solely in the hands of 'Strake-Holders'. Every cash 'Gift' or ‘Grant’ reduces the number of 'Strake-Holders' required to achieve our target and will finalise the contribution raising exercise that much sooner, facilitating earlier delivery of the yacht.
